Dr. Frey may recommend the following lab investigation
to assist in your diagnosis and treatment:
IgG Blood Spot Food Sensitivity Test
A simple, in
office finger-prick test. Blood levels of immunoglobulin
G (IgG) antibody are calculated after exposure to 96 different
food antigens. IgG immune responses are referred to as a
type III delayed hypersensitivity reaction, with symptoms
manifesting as much as 48-72 hours after ingestion of offending
foods. Symptoms associated with food sensitivities are often
subtle and include headaches, hypertension, asthma, digestive
disorders, moodiness, recurrent infections, skin conditions
such as eczema and psoriasis, joint pain, rhinitis and sinusitis
to name a few. Vegetarian panel is also available.
Adrenal Function Panel
This test assesses your physiological
capacity to deal with stress by measuring both cortisol
and DHEA, two hormones involved with the stress response.
The test gauges the extent of adrenal depletion to allow
for focused treatments and patient care. Symptoms of stage
2 adrenal deficiency include feeling tired but wired, anxiety,
mood swings, feeling stressed, difficulty sleeping, racing
mind, change in weight, and palpitations. Stage 3 deficiency
symptoms include depression, exhaustion, inability to cope
with small stressors, loss of lean muscle mass, weight changes,
non-restorative sleep, and low libido. Salivary samples
are collected by the patient at home.
Urine Toxic Metals
Beneficial for anyone who believes they may have been
exposed to heavy metals (such as mercury, lead, arsenic,
antimony), to assist in detoxification protocols, for preconception
use to prevent heavy metal transmission.
Find out quickly and easily which foods are currently
problematic for your health
Female Hormone Panel salivary test
Gynecological issues often stem from hormonal imbalance.
For women having trouble conceiving, with abnormal menses,
or who feel they may be perimenopausal.
Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis
Important indicator of digestion capability, absorption,
dysbiosis, and yeast. Indicated for patients with non-specific
gastrointestinal related symptoms such as indigestion, bloating,
diarrhea or constipation, abdominal pain, or fatigue.
An inflammation marker add-on to the standard test is
useful for assessing IBS, inflammation, colorectal cancer
risk, pancreatic insufficiency and infection.
The parasitology add-on to the standard test is a welcome
addition for travelers experiencing digestive problems after
international trips.
Other specialty lab testing requests will be accommodated
if possible.
In most cases, you will be referred back to your MD for
any routine lab-work that can be billed through Alberta
Health.
